Review/Assessment
We will provide you with resourceful assessment and review regarding our Bodum Coffee Maker, its uses and our customers experiences with it. Bodum Coffee Maker comes with an expectation of quality and great coffee. After all, the Bodum French Press is pretty much the standard for French press coffee makers. The world of pour over coffee makers is, however, swears by Hario and Chemex.
To be clear, the carafe and filter combo is pretty good. And the Bodum Pour Over Coffee Maker made it to our list of the best pour over coffee makers. However, for our review, specific nitpicks will be mentioned.
The Bodum brewer comes in three different sizes and 10 different silicone color combinations — one of which is just cork and not actually silicone — for a comfortable, temperature-resistant grip that resists water.
The coffee maker comprises two parts:
1: The carafe, which is made from durable borosilicate glass. The heat-resistant glass shows good finish and quality on a quick inspection.
2: A metal filter that is placed at the neck of the carafe. I’d call it a plastic-metal filter because though the filter and mesh are made from metal, the overall structure is supported by plastic.
There is a touch of an aesthetic component with the insulation band that goes around the neck of the carafe. This band is often made from silicone and is available in several colors to suit your taste. A cork band is also available and it looks pretty cool, aesthetically speaking.
Product Advantages
1: Models range up to 51 oz
2: Comes with permanent mesh filter
3: Beautiful design
4: Easy to adjust your brewing process for different grounds.
5: Includes a stopper to stop the sediments from going into your coffee as you pour it into a cup.
Product Disadvantages
1: Glass is pretty thin
2: Included permanent filter isn’t great quality
3: Silicone sleeve may not be wide enough to prevent touching hot glass
Information on the Bodum Coffee Maker
Bodum’s carafe is well-rounded and goes nicely towards the neck. Here, it flairs towards the exterior, culminating at the top. The top of the carafe is known for spout for easy pouring, it is known for it’s curve too, rather than being pronounced.
Be careful when handling this brewer. The glass is pretty thin. The 34 oz Bodum weighs 1.6 lbs compared to 1.9 lbs for the 30 oz Chemex. Some of that will be the weight difference between the silicone and wood collars, but some of it is the Bodum’s thinner glass.
Like most of the pour over coffee makers, the Bodum Pour Over does leave a layer of sediment in your coffee. You get 90% clean coffee and the last 10% sediment.
Key Points about Bodum Coffee Maker
1: Material: Glass
2: Filter: Stainless steel, permanent
3: Volume: 3 models – 17 oz, 34 oz, 51 oz
4: Made In: Portugal
Chemex Pour Over
The Chemex Pour Over is one of the first big boys in the market of pour over coffee makers. Both the Chemex and Bodum is made with a single sheet of glass with the difference in the shape of the carafe.
Chemex actually has their own coffee filters that are thicker and heavier, that allows the coffee to have a longer steep time. This result in a more packed and more robust coffee.
Bodum Vs Chimex
It is only natural to compare Bodum with the market leader, Chemex. Most of the time, when someone thinks of a pour over coffee maker, the image in mind is Chemex. It is the market leader and one of the best coffee makers in this category.
In general shape and function, Chemex and Bodum coffee makers are largely similar. Once you see the subtle differences, a bigger picture starts shaping up.
Chemex too makes from durable, high-quality, and heat-resistant borosilicate glass. The carafe’s neck has room for a collar that makes it easier to lift the carafe and pour your coffee.
One big difference between these coffee makers is the price. Chemex coffee makers can be considered expensive. Meanwhile, Bodum pour over coffee maker is great value, priced well enough to be considered cheap.
Some Important differences;
1: Bodum coffee maker prices far lower than Chemex
2: Bodum brews coffee faster
3: Chemex prefers paper or cloth filters, while Bodum includes a metallic filter
4: Paper filters absorb oils from coffee, while metallic filters don’t
5: Coffee made from Chemex is clearer and has a better taste profile. Bodum pour over coffee makers allow some coffee grinds to pass through, leading to greater sediment in the cup.

Cosori Pour Over Coffee Maker
The vital point you should buy the Cosori is you admire the design and need a pour-over coffee maker that can make a lot of coffee at a go. The COSORI filter is dual layers of 304 stainless steel that allows the fine oils from the coffee grounds to reach your cup. The screen is more adorable than the filter in my french press. The inner micro-mesh filter still lets the water through at a decent rate (not too slow, not too fast). I find the filter extremely easy to rinse out.
