Castrol is a reliable synthetic motor oil that is very affordable. Through molecules that stick to engine, this motor engine oil is designed to lessen engine wear. So the engine parts are 4 times smoother and this molecules remain in place even when the engine is off. So your engine is protected as it is warming up, which is where most engine wear happens.
Product Details from Castrol GTX Magnetic Motor Oil Review/ Assessment
On January 1st 2022, Castrol GTX will be transitioning into a brand new Castrol product, GTX Full Synthetic. This Castrol product drastically lessen engine wear. As tested in the industry Sequence IVA wear test, it has shown to leave engine parts 4X smoother. In addition, it has superior wear protection on critical engine parts. Adhere to the manufacturer’s recommendation in your vehicle owner’s manual for excellent performance.
Base oil and additives are the two different types of components that motor oil can be divided into. Most of a motor oil formulation is made up of base oil (70-90% of the formula though it depends on the motor oil grade).
The Various Types Of Motor Oil
The American Petroleum Institute define the properties of base oil groups. The better performance of the oil and higher group number is dependent on how better the quality of oil is.
Synthetic motor oil- The highest quality base oils is used by this motor oil products.
Synthetic blend ( part synthetic)- Mixture of high group base oil and lower group base oil are used.
Conventional (or mineral) motor oil: Lower group base oil are used by this product.
Are Engine Oil Additives Essential?
The performance of a motor oil isn’t defined only by base oil. Additives and viscosity modifiers of the formulation are the remaining components of motor oil. Each of these have a vital role in protecting the engine parts. Viscosity or flow characteristics of the motor oil is changed by viscosity modifiers. To protect metal surfaces from contacting each other, it allows oil flow at low temperature and keeps it thick enough at high temperature. While the additive protects the engine in different ways, such as;
Deposit are lessened from forming on piston and cylinders. Oxidation and thickening of oil flow through engine pathways is prevented. Contact on key metal surfaces such as shafts and bearings is reduced. Enhances fuel economy and keep engine running at optimum conditions. Furthermore, it protects seal from cracking or leaking and lessens foaming.
Product Description
The only product that is uniquely designed to give instant protection is Castrol GTX Magnetic. 75% of engine wear occur during the first 20 minutes of warm up according to testing. Oil drains off critical engine parts once your engine stops but the intelligent molecules in Castrol GTX magnetic don’t. Instead, they form an additional layer of protection during warm up, when it is needed most by your engine. As a result, drastically reduce engine wear and keep critical parts up to 4X smoother. This is as tested in the Industry Sequence IVA wear test.
Advantages of GTX Full Synthetic
Castrol GTX Full Synthetic prolongs the lifespan of an engine with:
6X better wear protection on critical engine parts. Plus, it has superior (1.3X) sludge cleaning and protection against new formation. Thermal and oxidation stability is provided by Full Synthetic formula. Furthermore, it has superior protection against viscosity breakdown.
Customer questions and answers
What is the shell life of motor oil?
It can survive a month or 2 but after that the add pack might end up at the bottom of the bottle which is not good. The night or day before the oil change, make sure you shake the bottle well. This is to mix up the additive pack that might have settled at the end of the bottle while waiting.
How long does that oil last for Chevrolet Cobalt It 2009 for 130.000 miles?
10,000 miles will be no problem between intervals if you drive daily and do mostly over 10 miles per trip. However, make sure you change at least once a year.
Synthetic or Conventional?
In its current form, this is a full synthetic although previous incarnations were a blend.
Is this product full synthetic or synthetic blend because it is listed under both category in the homepage?
Conventional formula for this weight is no longer made. This product in 5W-20 is a synthetic blend named Castrol.

The group 1,2 and 3 oils on this data sheet are all conventional. Fake synthetic was first made by Castrol. Though they were sued by Mobil 1, the court decided it was okay to market any oil as synthetic. Go to Castrol’s website and you will see that they recommend 3000 miles oil change interval with this. That’s a whole lot less than Mobil 1, which rates super synthetic at 7500, M1 at 10k then ep and ap 15k and 20k.
I’m not a Mobil 1 super fan but I have read all Castrol web pages and they all recommend 3000 mile oil changes. So this makes me wonder why it doesn’t last if their product is so good. I bought this oil because it was cheaper than Mobil 1 but after conducting some research, I won’t buy it again.

First of all, this is a genuine review and not fake at all. For 5 years being a vehicle repair technician in the auto industry, I’ve never had issues with Castrol products. Generally, motor oil is miscible regardless of the brand used so long as the viscosity grade is same. However, I have enjoyed Castrol’s cleaning power and ability to lubricate the cylinder walls of my vehicle.
If your oil turns black after 3000 of miles use, you should consider factors like high vehicle mileage, carbon build-up. Plus, cross-contamination from previous oil changes and burnt fuel from decreased compression values due to worn piston rings. While working for a domestic vehicle manufacturer, full synthetic oils in vehicle were replaced @ 4000-5000 miles of use. This was done regardless of the engine displacement and cylinder count.

Got a great oil at a great price but unfortunately after that, I have seen that price available to prime members. Since the year 1980s, I have been using the Castrol GTX and it has never let me down. Though I’m very hard on my vehicle, there has never been a blown seal, gasket, or issue while using Castrol GTX. One time, I accidentally bust a hole in my radiator in a parking lot, 15 miles away from home. It was late on a Friday night and having no tools, had no choice but to drive home very fast.
To cut it short, the car made it home but was long out of antifreeze and temperature gauge was red. Scared for the engine, I let the vehicle sit overnight to cool off. And the next morning, she was up and working excellently. The fact that the engine was saved from the excessive heat was credited to the Castrol GTX in my car. Having replaced two engines while using M. one, so I have not had same luck with other brands. Due to my experience with or without Castrol oil, I would easily recommend it to family and friends.
When I ordered, the oil arrived on time and safely too. You can always find Castrol GTX cheaper on Amazon than retail locations if you have a Prime membership. There is no payment or discount for giving an honest opinion of this product as a review. We give an honest review to assist others make good purchasing decisions. I have used Castrol in my 2005 PT Cruiser with satisfying results. Decided to give the high mileage version a try after passing 80k miles. The engine was noticeably quieter and drove very smoother immediately after the oil change. Until I get a new car, I would keep using it on my cruiser because I like it a lot.
Pros
Made noticeable advancements on my high mileage car over standard blend. Cheaper on Amazon than retail stores. Order arrives on time and no issues of leakage.
Cons
Double check the price before purchase as price on Amazon can change drastically from time to time.
Overall, for higher mileage vehicles needing a blended oil, I would recommend this product.
